Technologically Enabled Universal Life and Knowledge Expansion
Also called extropiansim, extrophy refers to a continually transforming paradigm of ethics and standards for improving the extant human condition. Often referred to by its detractors as pseudo-scientific, this ideology holds that life will expand indefinitely and in an orderly manner throughout the entire universe. This philosophical worldview also posits that this hoped-for progress will be accomplished through the application of human intelligence and technological advancement.
Principle among the pursuits of extropians is the extension of human life to encompass, not merely decades, but five to six centuries. Moreover, the advocates of extropy demonstrate a strong reliance upon reason and rational thinking to provide solutions to the perennial challenges that confront humankind like disease, suffering, death, etc.
Extropians also extol what they call practical optimism which characterizes their view of the future in which their vision of a posthuman utopia will come to fruition through the application of advances in technology and medicine. Technological advancements that garner the attention and favor of extropians include life extension technologies, nanotechnology, mind uploading, cryonics, biomedical technology, neural mapping, advanced computer systems.
